Nixon hit the big #3 mark in his life and we celebrated with lots of family and friends. He had a fantastic birthday and was spoilt beyond need by everyone. I made him a racecar birthday cake that he thought was the coolest thing ever. Almost all the Wallace family was able to attend (Shaune had to head home to work), as well as my brother and his family, and some really great family friends. I love opportunities to get together with people and celebrate. Nixon is definitely a little boy worth celebrating. He's such a fun guy and I can honestly say he makes me laugh everyday.
On May 1st Sterling got married. We welcomed Julie into the Wallace family with open arms as we celebrated a wonderful day with them. They were married in Cardston at noon and afterwards we did a bunch of pictures outside, hit up DQ (family tradition) and then headed to Barnwell for the family dinner/reception. We had a fabulous day and Ster and Julie looked so stunning. Julie is a wonderful person and a great addition to the family. The Wallace women are now equal in number to the men...who ever thought that day would come? I just love weddings!
Not too long after the wedding we all got together for the 35th annual Lobster Feed. Lobster Feed is a yearly event headed off by Trev's uncle Murray. We LOVE Lobster Feed and really enjoy getting together with the whole Wallace side of the family (Grandma Wallace, Ric and Trish and boys, and Uncle Murray along with the rest of us). Good food, good fun and great family. What more can a person ask for in a day? We had a great time: Nixon talked about it the whole way home (I'm not kidding 2 hours of yappity yap about Lobster and such). I think his talking was the only thing that kept we awake; not to say that it didn't get a little old though. We're already looking forward to next years delicious event.
I participated in my 3rd Relay for Life this year. Relay for Life is an event put on by the Cancer Society to raise awareness, hope and money for cancer. THANKS SO MUCH to everyone who pledged me and helped me meet my goal! I love Relay for Life and look forward to doing it each May. My team is made up of some of Trevor's co-workers and me and we have a great night filled with lots of walking, a little fun and some great company. I think it took me about 3 weeks to catch up on my sleep after this years event, but it was definitely worth it.
Back in May we spent a wonderful evening out at the 'Farm' making puppets and having a puppet show. It was fun to hangout with Courtney and the boys and make silly puppets together. Ally, of course, was the most into this and did a great job creating her puppet. Nixon had fun with Caden, Dexter and Papa playing outside in the dirt. And, Scotia was happy to sit back and just watch everything unfold.
This past weekend we adventured out to Elkwater and tried our hand at our first ever family camping trip. We stayed for one night with some friends of ours and had a fantastic time. The kids were so good and slept so good and the food was yummy and we just had so much fun. Already we're looking forward to our next chance to get out of the house and enjoy the beauties that nature has to offer. I think my favorite part was the little hike that we went on and explored a marshy pond we found along the trail. I just love being with my family.
Well, this seems to be turning into a super long blog post. I guess the lesson here is to not wait so long inbetween posting next time. We've had a busy but fun last couple of months and are now looking forward to summertime and the end of the school year. Already we have plans next weekend to participate in the Raymond softball tournament with my side of the family, as well as enjoy the festivities of July 1st there before we head down to the Lake for the rest of the week. With summer fast approaching I already know that it's going to fly by way too fast. I'm going to end this post off with some random pictures of the kids from the last few months.
