100 Days of School
Ally celebrated 100 days of School this past week and was given a homework assignment to create 100 of something to bring to school and show her class. Not surprisingly she wanted to do something that involved cats, so she deciced to draw 100 cats, all on her own. She worked so hard on her poster and was so pleased with her results. I must say that I too thought it looked great. 100 Cats, by Ally Wallace. How fun! She's such a good artist.
She keeps growing...
Two months ago today Scotia entered our lives and became the fifth member of our growing family. Where does the time go? She's smiling, she's cooing, she's growing, she's sleeping great at night, and she already weighs 12 lbs. Scotia is wonderful baby and we all love her so much. She does the cutest things, like when she's cooing and bubbles end up all over her chin. She apparently loves the Wii, just like her Daddy and smiles are something she's never short of, except when I eat something she doesn't like...like onions and broccoli. We love our Scotia girl.
Lots of LOVE to go around
People ask me all the time how Ally and Nixon are liking the 'new baby' (a.k.a Scotia), and I'm always happy to tell them that both Ally and Nixon LOVE their baby sister. Before having Scotia I did worry a little that Ally might not like having a new baby around and that Nixon would get jealous of me spending so much time with her, but I've been pleasantly surprised by both of them. On most days there's almost too much love being displayed by both of them as they talk to her, right in her face; as they hold her, Nixon tends to squeeze a little tight; and in Nixon's case, constantly wanting to touch her head, I'm worried that he's going to rub her hair off. As a mother I really can't complain too much though...when it comes to these three little people in my life, there is lots of love to go around and for that I'm truly grateful.

When the family gets together...
I love an occasion to get together with my family. Visiting with my brother and sisters is always a welcome event. Growing up we only had each other; no cousins within 'visiting' distance so we rarely got together with anyone outside of us. I was always a little jealous of my friends that had a lot of cousins their ages. It seemed as though everyone I knew had a cousin they got to see on a regular basis and they all seemed to have so much fun when that happened. I wanted that for myself and wished for it often. As I got older I realized that cousins just weren't in the cards for me, but I began to hope that it would be for my children. I wanted them to have Aunts and Uncles and cousins...lots of them. I wanted them to know their cousins and get to spend time with them. My kids are all lucky. They've got cousins, and lots of them. Ally, Nixon and Scotia have been lucky enough to have cousins their same ages and we do celebrate any occasion to get together with them and just play. How fun it is when our families get together!
