Take Your Vitamins!

I read a study recently about prenatal vitamins that really interested me. I thought some of you might find it interesting too. It sure made me really glad I took my vitamins when I was pregnant with Ally and Nix. Here it is:

Quoted from 'The Natural Path' Vol. 10 No. 7
The Most Amazing Pregnancy Study You've Ever Seen
This incredible Canadian study found that a simple prenatal multivitamin is able to protect infants against the three most common forms of childhood cancer: leukemia, brain cancer, and neuroblastoma. In a correspondence with The Natural Path, Gideon Koren MD, one of the researchers, said that the risk of leukemia was 39% lower, the risk of brain cancer was 27% lower, and the risk of neuroblastoma was 47% lower. These reductions, he said, were highly significant.

Wow! It just goes to show that proper nutrition while pregnant can affect a child's health in the long term significantly. I thought this was so interesting. I hope you do too.

Babies Everywhere!

I found the funniest video on YouTube recently. It's a Nutrigrain commercial that never aired...I, personally, can't see why not. I think it's absolutely hilarious, and considering that at least 85% of the women (of child bearing years of course) I know are pregnant, this movie is really funny. Here's the link:

Ok I couldn't get the link to work so I've posted the video clip separate. ENJOY!

P.S. This picture is only a few of the girls I know. They're all either due now or over the next 4 months. Once all their babies are born I think there will literally be babies everywhere! Especially at church.

Girls and Boys

As a parent I am learning that there are very big differences between girls and boys at a very young age. Today, for instance, we went to the park and Nixon sat in the rocks and ate them...I don't ever remember Ally ever eating rocks at the park. Nixon also makes giant messes at dinner time and gets food ALL over the place, including all over himself. Ally, on the other hand, has always been a very neat eater. We are also discovering that Nix really likes to throw things; he gets into everything! My house is a constant crazy zone these days. Whether it be tupperware lids thrown about or magazines that have been shredded, Nixon is the king of mess. Ally...well, I guess Ally's pretty messy too. Maybe that's one thing the little boys and little girls have in common. They both know how to make a clean house explode. I'm sure the only reason they will both live to adulthood is because they are just so darn cute.

New Posts

I have decided to change the way I blog on the Internet. I've spent some time recently viewing a number of different other blogs and really enjoyed the ones that are a little more like journal entries and not just pictures. I'm not a great writer though, so we'll see how this goes. By chance I might just have something interesting to say from time to time and I thought this would be a good place to write it down.

For instance, I think Spring has finally sprung here in Medicine Hat. Today's high was 17 degrees and the kids and I spent lots of time outside. Nixon seems to really enjoy the outdoors, which I think is quite common with kids. He's very content to just sit on the grass and observe as Ally runs around. Their enthusiasm for things never ceases to amaze me. Ally was just so excited to be able to wear capris and flip-flops today; she was so happy to see the sun in the ski this morning.

We Bar-B-Qued tonight with Trev's parents and Spencer for supper, which was fun. The weather was very suiting for a grill and some burgers. They tasted extra good and made summer feel closer then ever. We are really looking forward to warmer days and lots of time outside in the sun.

Nixon's First Bike Ride

We recently went on our first bike ride of the season. It was a lot of fun and the kids loved it too. We had to dress up really warm because it was kinda chilly outside but once we got going it was great. We're excited for bike riding season and warmer days.

FOOD!

We are discovering the Nixon is a very messy eater. He tends to get more food on his face, head, clothes, ears, arms, and legs (yes, even his legs) then he does in his mouth.

Luckly, he loves the bath that follows most of his meals and he cleans up great.
He's such a funny baby!

Big Comfy Couch

Ally and I went to the Big Comfy Couch tonight together. It was a lot of fun and Ally loved it. She was dancing and singing right along with the music and the people on stage. She just loves this kind of stuff.

My New and Improved Bedroom

Last week I redid our bedroom and I'm quite pleased with the way things turned out. I painted to match our new bedding and then did a wall tatoo on the back wall to add some excitment to the room. We also purchased some new furniture (the end tables, headboard, and a console table). I really like the way it turned out and how it looks now. I finally feel like my room is a place I can go to relax. I'd love some imput on what you think, especially on the two front pillows. I'm still trying to decide about those. Hope you all like it.

Ride'n Dirty

It wasn't enought for Steve to take one big loop with the snowmobile. Steve had us laughing when he not only took one trip but three spins in a row. He would stop, making us think that he had enought and just then he would take off like the snowmobile was posessed for one more huge loop around the lake. We thought the he was headed for the boat launch like were were joking about in the hot tub.

Man Trip 2007

We were sitting in the hot tub and we were getting too hot so we decided to get out and roll in the snow and jump back in the hot tub. Well that was fun, but then someone dared someone else to hop out of the hot tub and jump on a snowmobile and see if they could get going 60mph. Well if someone dares you to do something on the man trip you don't say no. So the next thing we knew we were taking turns cruising around the lake with no clothes on (except for our shorts) on the snowmobile. It was great fun and to tell you the truth it really wasn't that cold.
