Trev's HOME! After a 12 day trip to Toronto for training for his new job, Trev returned home last night. YIPPEE! I missed him every day. Lovers aren't meant to be apart for that long. Best Friends REALLY aren't meant to be apart for that long. I realized while he was gone how much time we spend together. My evenings quickly got 'boring' as I tried to fill them with the usual things we'd do together...watch TV, movies, cards (can't do that one alone), chess (can't do this one either), tidying up the kitchen, chatting (not much fun alone as well). Some nights we just sit beside each other and read. After about a week all these things got really boring so, I'm glad he's home. My life seems 'right' again and the house is more content. I'm so happy he's back.

I heard...

I heard once that good blogs get posted on often...well, I guess that makes this blog not so great. What can I say really? I have no excuse; blogging is not one of my top priorities. It comes after cooking, cleaning, childcare, errands, grocery shopping, vacuuming, dishes, laundry, making beds, wiping noses, changing stinky diapers, shoveling, taxiing, and you know, pretty much doing all the day to day mom stuff that I do. I guess I just don't have the time on a regular basis, or I guess I don't make the time...one of the two.

I write all this as my floor is covered with crumbs from the nuts Nixon spilt, and the toque bin is scattered across the living room floor and Scotia sings a cute little song to her magic beans about sleeping. My life is exciting and oh so busy. I like it though, just the way it is.

Snow is falling again...

...and our camera is broken so I have no new pictures to post. Sorry. I know they're the only good thing about this blog. Hopefully we'll get it fixed soon. I'm missing it.

Sweet Baby of Mine

Happy Birthday sweet baby of mine! Scotia is 2 this very day (can you believe I'm posting on her actually birthday?!). I truly can't believe that it has been 2 years.

This sweet little girl came into our lives on a freezing cold winter night two years ago and as we celebrate her today our hearts couldn't be any warmer. Scosh (as we like to call her) is our little ray of sunshine and is usually such a happy, full of energy girl. She now sleeps in a 'big girl' bed, shares a room with her big sister, and loves to dance.

Her favorite things are her blankets, her brother and sister, her momma, her daddy, kitties, and puppies.

Scotia loves to eat yogurt, play in the snow and organize the things in her room. She also loves to swim and go to the library.

We're so happy to have Scosh in our family and wouldn't trade her for the world. We love you Scotia Peggy! Hope your special day is as special as you.

Miss Ally turns 8

I've been gathering my thoughts on what I'd say in this post for just over a month now. I don't know why but my thoughts don't always come out the way I want them to sometimes and I want this post on Ally to be how I really feel. She's is growing into such a wonderful little lady and I feel so blessed to be her mother.

When I found out I was pregnant with Ally I knew right away that she was going to be someone so special. She has blessed my life in ways I never thought possible and taught me so many wonderful things. She is patient with me as I learn how to be a good mom and also so caring and kind to her little brother and sister. And, as she grows older I get glimmers once and awhile of the type of person she will be as an adult and I know she will achieve some wonderful things in life because she is a loyal friend, a good listener and someone with a lot of integrity. I truly can't believe she's already 8 years old. Where or where does the time go? I remember, like it was yesterday, the first time I saw her cute little face and held her sweet little self in my arms. Babies grow up way too fast.

Here is Ally in a nutshell:

Whenever the camera comes out she LOVES to pose. Always has. She's been my one kid that takes great pictures whenever we have pictures done. She's silly too and that just makes her so much more fun!

Ally loves to have fun with Nixon; he thinks she's so wonderful. These two make a great pair and get into all sorts of trouble (the good kind) together. And, as much as he drives her crazy sometimes she loves him even more. Ally is a wonderful big sister!

Ally is so happy almost all the time. Now, I say almost because, well, she is a girl and us girls get a little crazy sometimes, but for the most part she's fun and always ready to do something together. She loves just being together with people and is always great company when I run errands. She's just all round good to have around!

She's silly. I love this picture because you can see how much these two look alike. Scotia loves her big sis and is always trying to to everything that she does. Ally wanted a little sister for so long and finally got the best one ever when Scotia was born. Almost everyday she asks me when the two of them will be able to share a room. Won't that be a party!

Ally, like me LOVEs chocolate cake and the color orange. Trev thinks I've brainwashed her someway, but I think she just came this way and I like it. She almost gets as excited as I do whenever chocolate cake is around and I love having someone to share one of my passions with. Yummy!

People say she looks just like me, and I'm not going to lie, I love it when they do. Who doesn't want to be told that? After all, she's a pretty cute little girl! We love spending time together and doing 'girl' things once and a while. I like having someone around who will join me in my attempts to be like a lady.

Ally has a wonderful sense of adventure and is always ready to go try something new. She caught BOTH of these fish she was just so proud of herself. I really love doing this with this girl.

Last, but certainly not least, Ally chose to be baptized. I've never been so proud as a mother! She's growing up into such a beautiful little girl who loves her family, has a testimony, and loves her Savior and Heavenly Father. Children are such wonderful examples of good in this world. I feel so blessed to be her mother.

The Essence of Us

This is what we do for fun. The other night for FHE we wandered over to the local park to play stick soccer (teams of two people try to kick the soccer ball past the other team and into the apposing stick stuck in the ground) and then headed home to do skeed shows (racing your bike down the alley and then hitting the brakes hard to see who can skid the furthest) in the back alley. The kids loved and and so did I. I think if it was up to me this is the kind of thing we would do all day. Forget the dishes and the laundry...

...this is what life should be all about!

Can't live with HIM...can't live without.

I thought I'd do a post tonight dedicated just to Nixon.  I have so many funny pictures of him and so many great stories.  He's going to have a great slide show one day when he gets married.  I'd thought I'd share a few of my favorites of the summer with all of you tonight.

Here he is at Walmart with an Iron Man helmet on.  He calls Iron Man, Beautiful Man so I guess he thought he looked beautiful in this picture.  I don't know where his shoes were...not unusual for Nixon.

Here's a picture that makes me laugh out loud every time I look at it.  I have no idea who took this picture or how he got underwear to put on his head while driving, but here he is none the less.  He truly makes me laugh everyday.

Sugar is this boys main food group.  He eats it all the time and without end.  I'm not sure why he is eating two ice cream cones but he's pretty pleased with himself as you can see. Scotia is probably beside him crying because he took  hers.  Another common occurrence.  The candy thief!

I had to put this in here because this is what Nixon's faced looked like half the summer. Covered in dirt and food.  This is just so classic Nixon.  I've given up on cleaning him until bedtime.  I figure as long as I wash the dirt layer off once and day so that he can start fresh the next we're doing good.  Face washing is just not one of my strong suits most of the time.  

These are my pajama pants.  He was dancing in them when I found him.  Very random and very funny.  I wish I could get into his head sometimes.

Covered in mud and playing with nails.  We encourage our children to explore the world around them...as you can see that's not always safe.  He's having fun though so I guess we're getting a few things right.

Here he is pretending to eat fake poop at an interpretive center we visited in Whitefish.  Of course we can't just look at the poo and touch it; we have to also try to eat it.  It's a good thing it was only rubber.

He made himself a squirt gun out of a shampoo bottle and had to poise with it for a picture.  He's just so silly.

Last but not least, a great picture of him goofing off in the boat.

As much as this boy drives me crazy I love him to pieces.  What would life be like without Nixon in it?  I dare say a little on the dull side don't you think?

Summer Highlights

We started off the summer celebrating that school was out.  Ally invited some friends over for a backyard pool party and BBQ.  We had delicious hot dogs, chips, pop, popsicles, and watermelon.  There was music, water and laughs.  The kids loved it and so did I.  We just LOVE summer time!

We celebrated July 1st the usual way in Raymond with the May family.  The kids just LOVE getting together and this year was no exception.  Here we all are at the parade waiting for candy.  Buddy in front and the kid beside him are not related to us.  They did however steal some of our candy and ruin this picture.  Don't worry.  At one point I yelled at him to go away; it worked.

Ally participated in her first summer games this year.  Thanks to Uncle Matt's great coaching he took her team to the finals where they won SILVER MEDALS.  We were so proud of her.  She's quite the little soccer star and is so proud of herself for the win.  It was fun to watch and even more fun to cheer for our little Ally as she did her best.  

The Nelson crew joined us at the Lake this year.  We LOVED having them with us.  We had a great week on the water.  The kids made a wipeout coarse, played in the mud, swam, water skied, did pedicures, and pretty much played hard all week.  Trev was a trooper and pulled the kids countless times on the tub and various other behind the boat things.  We were all sad to see them go home.

Jayce stayed with use at the Lake the following week and we really enjoyed having him there.  We hiked, put on a play, rode a gondola, went down the alpine slides, shopped, swam some more, and had another great week.  He's a great help to have around and we were really sad when he went home.  Do you think Laura and Al would miss him to much if we just adopted him as one of our own?

Our week with the Wallace's was fun and exciting.  We did lots more on the water, had a pirate adventure the took us to poo island, tye dyed t-shirts, ate yummy food, and just enjoyed each others company.  Summers don't last long enough.

 

We've camped a few times, driven all over the place, eaten a 10 scoop ice cream cone, hiked, biked and played hard this summer.  With back to school tomorrow; looking back I don't know how it went so fast.
